Here in Montana we've been chasing winter. I finally realized my best bet was to travel to the Park.
We have this strange phenomenon where our temperatures have been way above normal and our winter conditions virtually non-existent, but our snow pack which we watch like hawks, worrying about summer fires, is above normal. Thank god.
It doesn't mean we are out of the woods as grizzly bears come out of their dens way too early and so many shrubs and trees have started to bud out... but it's better than if we didn't have that high country snow.
For the buffalo in Yellowstone right now it's not a bad thing at all at least from the viewpoint of my unscientific eyes anyway.
And for a painter, it's just damn unbelievable...
Expect to see many more of these buffs in the next few weeks. I'm already making plans to go back.
