Landscapes in Montana involve distance and mountains and clouds and you know somewhere there is water.
My favorite is when the clouds belie the height of the mountains. With the peaks partially obscured it is easy to imagine rather than a 12,000 foot peak, it could actually be 18 or 20,000 feet. Not that I could gage it accurately or have even ever in my life gazed upon the highest mountains in the world. But the clouds certainly make it easy to imagine.
Something about that illusion always makes me smile.
Big Sky country indeed!
