Landscapes in Montana involve distance and mountains and clouds and you know somewhere there is water.
My favorite is when the clouds belie the height of the mountains. With the peaks partially obscured it is easy to imagine rather than an 11,000 foot peak, it could actually be 18 or 20,000 feet. Not that I have ever gazed upon the highest mountains in the world, but the clouds make it easy for me to imagine.
Something about that illusion always makes me smile.
Big Sky country indeed!
