What is the connection between humans and mountains?
We are a blip in their time. But like the tiny germ that can lay us low, sometimes we are anathema to a mountain's health. But not today.
At its best, our connection is a transcendent spiritual bond that speaks well for the longevity of both parties.
There is a lovely woman in our town whose 95th birthday was this month. She is funny and charming and resourceful. The kind of person who elevates your game just by being in her presence. She has style and panache. Good values. We are lucky to be her neighbors.
In honor of her birthday, I painted this view from the log cabin on the island where she lived for so many years before she migrated up the hill a little.
