This iconic sign is a favorite of local photographers and painters. From this angle it reminds us that a passenger coming into the depot was beckoned here. The depot has become a museum but The Murray is still a hotel. Livingston is now more Livingston than ever. There is a new appreciation for the surrounding mountains and rivers, the architecture, and the lore.
We have lived through some bountiful and some hard times. But hey, we are still here. The trains are still running. There is even talk of renewing a passenger service. Everyone in town thinks it's a good idea. Now if we can just convince the rest of the world. I'm sure the depot would be happy to do double duty as a depot again.
Walking down this street or parking and painting, as I did, it feels like it is about to happen.
