Storm Brewing

In Montana above each town, students arrange white painted rocks to form the town's initial in a large form that can be clearly seen by small aircraft. Our town did a fish and a 'P' for Park County or Park High School. Hence the hill above our town is locally known as the Fish and 'P'.

Livingston has extreme winds. The Fish and 'P' catches every breeze we get from any direction. Three mountain ranges are easily visible from up there.

Storm Brewing was painted from the Fish and 'P' looking south. So many of my paintings have included Livingston Peak lately that you might think it is our only mountain. It isn't. But it is like a sentinel watching over us.

Every time I paint it I feel like I am seeing it for the first time. Then I stand back and reflect, 'There is the talisman that anchors me. My hometown.' Queue Bruce Springsteen.

This painting is 8"X10". Oil on board.
