Sunflowers are my Spirit Flower. This is the first year that I have successfully grown the Mammoth ones that grow 10 feet tall and might have been the original inspiration for Jack and the Beanstalk. They seem other worldly and are fantastically preposterous and beautiful. They also are the source of a gazillion seeds!!. Their leaves could be serving platters. So many children's stories could have their origins right here.
I feel I may be being perennially blessed by their presence this year in my life.
I should have done a million paintings of them this year, instead we have here an homage. Like everything about these beauties, their graceful succumbing fills me with awe.
