The Wind in the Willows

We have had some crazy crazy weather here lately. It's as if there is a hurricane above us, just beyond the clouds.

Sometimes in trying to capture the spark I see on this 8"x10" format I get a little self conscious, like maybe I am trying too hard to control the outcome.

The willows have so many colors and yet they are all lines. Little black birds are flitting around and their movement says so much about the ephemeral nature of nature.

Honestly, after much consternation on this piece I felt like I just had to call it good. I wasn't able to really show what I was seeing, but at least I had the light, the color, and the lines.

Forward to the next morning. I am changing the cover I put on my couch to protect it from my pooches... and just a light swish over the painting hung securely on the wall.

And Voila!!! I got it!!! This is actually so much closer to what I was seeing and feeling. The lines are mostly blurred but a few show through here and there. That is how we actually see a landscape here. With wind. With weather.

Thank you serendipity!
