Painting a plein air instructional session, one on one, can be a fabulous experience. I believe its because a large part of any plein air painting is choosing the right place. Of course, on an overnight river trip this is a given. And anytime anyone ventures out to paint and the spirit says, "Here. You should paint here." Then the magic is lined up to naturally occur.
Each session is idiosyncratic to the exact people involved. And large groups have their own special dynamic which I am also amazed by. But still. The one on one sessions have this specific advantage for being truly brilliant.
A lovely young painter and myself traversed up and down hills to find the right place. And find it we did!
The wind was intense but we found a calm spot. This person knew immediately the ambience was exactly what was desired.
Honestly, after that, its hard to go wrong.
