Dusk Before the Snowstorm

I'm taking the journey back to oils, at least for now.

It is fun to make these 8"x10" paintings of this beautiful place I live. I have a practice of driving until the spirit moves me to stop and paint. Transforming the front seats of my trusty Honda into an outdoor studio, feels luxuriant and a little crazy. Two things that suit me.

Passers by greet me, but it is soon clear that I am in my own world. It's a dialogue between paint and landscape and me. A diary of sorts. A continuum. We always pick up right where we left off, like a dear old friend.

This painting is a revisiting, although it has been a few years.

Looking across the river from where there used to be a bridge, long ago.

It's a good spot. Just to be.
