The unexpected beauty of these flowers draws me to them every time I walk outside. I am so happy this fall weather without a killing frost has brought this gift of easy, exuberant joy.
Literally every day there are more blooms and the blossoms from yesterday expand. In my own old age I have come to see the gorgeousness of the whole life cycle. These flowers perpetuate by casting seeds.
Although these zinnias were gifted to me by a friend, I am hoping by composting and continually improving the soil of their bed, they will volunteer to spend another season.
Every year has its inspiration. This year these guys stole my heart.
And they brought hummingbirds!
