Thermal Inversion

When I started this painting the temperature was 5 degrees below zero. By the time I finished, it was 27 degrees above. As a kind of harbinger for climate change, Montana often manifests these crazy fluctuations.

We can have several feet of snow and then after days of 50 degrees things can melt to a point of drought-worry. The result is a kind of cleansing of the spirit. Don't take anything for granted.

The adage, "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" is inversely proportional. You might like the weather, but the one constant is change.

Indeed we need to "make hay while the sun shines", ski when there is snow. Go out to paint every day.
